It’s not every day you get to work with Darth Vader, but that is exactly what Dan Gifford did with his latest brand spot for CNN starring legendary, Oscar-nominated actor James Earl Jones.
Jones has been the voice of CNN for nearly four decades and the concept of the spot is to showcase CNN’s impressive raft of original programming for 2018.
The eighty-six year old has never before appeared in person on the channel.
The shoot was split into two parts, with Dan shooting Jones in a studio in his home town of New York and then working with a body double in a house in Malibu, California.
Reflecting on the experience, Dan said:
'James Earl is the most impressive actor I have worked with. It’s only partly the voice. He has a remarkable presence in the room and it’s impossible not to be cognisant of his vast experience on stage and screen. He was very warm and friendly, but you knew you had to be on your game’.
