Srik Narayanan

Srik is a filmmaker with fifteen years experience writing, producing and directing award-winning, high-end documentary for all the major UK and worldwide broadcasters, including the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery and National Geographic.

He works in all forms, scripted and unscripted – from observational pieces to drama-docs and fiction.

He has specialised in making distinctive, intelligent and popular single films. He seeks out compelling and challenging human narratives, which require imaginative and unconventional methods of visual storytelling and a strong sense of authorship.

Amongst his most notable single films is the stylised documentary “The Man Who Ate His Lover” (Channel 4) which was nominated for Best Single Documentary in the Bulldog Awards, docu-drama “Kill Me If You Can” (Channel 4) and hybrid comedy / performance documentary “Dirty Fan Mail” (Channel 4).

He has also sought to make films about subjects that could not be made as conventional documentaries, like “Human Zoo” (Channel 4) which explored the evolution of our contemporary feelings about race through a historical narrative, and the Indie-award-winning landmark series “What We Still Don’t Know” (Channel 4) about the frontiers of cosmology and philosophy.

Srik’s films have been described as, ‘intelligent and illuminating’ by the Financial Times, ‘unsettling but compelling viewing’ by Televisual, ‘extraordinary’ and ‘distinguished’ by The Times, ‘remarkable’, ‘utterly jaw-dropping’ and ‘meticulous’ by the Guardian, ‘chilling’ and ‘incredible’ by The Sun, and Broadcast magazine has said his work ‘pulls out all the stops’.

Srik is a member of the Director’s Guild of Great Britain, Directors UK and the Association of British Science Writers.
